Mimi is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with more than 30 years' experience as a professional who guides individual clients to maximize their tax position to reduce liabilities and advises business clients to increase profitability by helping owners understand compliance and how financials impact their business. SUE COHEN, Managing Director 

Sue has over 15 years of experience in business management at Mercer Island Accountants as a certified Quickbooks ProAdviser  who expertly manages client accounts providing montly bookkeeping, payroll services, quarterly reports, and budget forecasting. Sue's attention to detail accentuates her continuing education in accounting principles, honed over the years by excelling at courses in business management and accounting. She is also an IRS Registered Tax Return Preparer (PTIN) who is highly efficient in tax preparation and finanical statments.

LAURIE AMARAL, Senior Accountant

Laurie has over 30 years of experience in individual and corporate tax preparation and planning in prominent executive positions as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Her expertise in preparing tax returns at Mercer Island Accountants is unparalled. Laurie's stellar career includes serving as the tax manager of a "Big 4" accounting firm in the U.S. to tax director at a prominent Northwest software company. Areas of expertise include taxation, K-1 reporting, and financials. Laurie applies her knowledge of the ever-changing U.S. tax codes and financial business strategies to her preparation of tax returns to provide our clients with the best return to achieve their goals.

TERRI CAMPBELL, Staff Accountant

Terri has over 25 years of business management experience in the Pacific Northwest. She has extensive expertise as accounting manager, bookkeeping manager, and HR manager for various organizations ranging from a sole proprietor to a high-growth startup to a corporation with $17M in annual revenues. Her accounting industry experience includes the technology sector, professional services, political campaigns, retail, education, and non-profit. Terri thrives working with clients to get results and is praised for being trustworthy, discreet, ethical, and professional.

TAMMY OPHEIM, Senior Tax Accountant

Tammy has over 35 years of experience in the tax field with an emphasis on individual taxation. She recieved her Enrolled Agent cerfication with the Internal Revenue Service in 2003. Not only does Tammy focus on income tax compliance services for all catagories of tax returns, she spends a significant amount of time on IRS representation for clients with a focus on indivual taxpayers. Tammy enjoys boating, traveling with her family, and spending time with friends and family at their vacation home in Lake Chelan.

SERENA TARICA, Communications Specialist / Director of Storytelling

Serena is an experienced communications specialist, content editor, and outreach expert. She developed strategies at the University of Washington for the Provost's Laboratory Safety Initiative where her team recieved a "UW Distinguished Staff Award" nomination and a Campus Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA) "Innovation Award" for developing an innovative safety program. With over 20 years' exerpeince working as a writing strategist, Serena creates marketing communcations, website and digital content, and edits books and scripts for entertainment industry clients. As a screenwriter, her feature films have been in development in Hollywood and, as a producer, her films Reign and Anne Frank Meets God have won multiple film festival awards.

Allie has a decade of experience thriving at Mercer Island Accountants in various roles. With knowledge in tax preparation and operations management, her understanding is vast in all things accounting.  Allie’s attention to detail is focused to assess every detail and deduction when working on a client’s tax return. Her creative acumen is a bonus, and she possesses organizational and decorating skills that rival Martha Stewart! As a Mercer Island native, she is excited to help her community better understand their financial decisions and discover their unique tax profile.
